Trick-or-Treat for Unicef – Make Halloween More Than Candy

Growing up, we lived out in the country, so I never really got to trick-or-treat door-to-door like my friends.  Instead we would go to my grandparent’s house and maybe hit up a few of their neighbors, who had put aside special treats just for us.  Looking back, we probably got a better deal that way.  As I started to understand more about the world around me, I thought the idea of Trick-or-Treat for Unicef was so cool!! I really wanted my own collection box.

Did you know Trick-or-Treat for Unicef has been around for 68 years?  It started as a way to help children overseas during World War II, and has evolved into an amazing and simple way for kids to make a difference.

Here’s a short video about why Trick-or-Treat for Unicef is so important:

And here’s the story of Nirmal, just one of the many kids who have been helped by something as simple as kids collecting coins instead of candy:

Did you know:

  • 25 cents provides 10 kids with safe water for a day
  • $1 pays for protein biscuits for a starving child
  • $17 keeps a kid safe from 6 killer diseases
  • $24 supplies an emergency first-aid kit
  • $257 buys a school-in-a-box so kids can learn anywhere.
