Golden Honey Cornbread Recipe

Previously I had shared my sweet cornbread recipe.  That recipe has been a family favorite for many years, but recently I thought it would be fun to mess around with it a bit.  I wanted a more golden crust and a slightly sweeter, more cake-like taste. The result was a big ht with the family.  Try them both and let me know which one you prefer!!

Recipe: Golden Honey Cornbread

Summary: A sweet, cake-like cornbread with a golden crust.


  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 3/4 cup yellow corn meal
  • 1 Tbsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/4 cups milk
  • 2 large eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 Tbsp. butter, melted


  1. Preheat oven to 350F.
  2. Grease a 9 inch square baking pan.
  3. Combine all ingredients, in order, in a medium-sized bowl.
  4. Stir until blended.
  5. Bake for 40-45 minutes until top is golden in color and toothpick comes out clean.
