DK S1 CoversThe Sea of Dreams spat me out with no memories, no idea of who I was or what my purpose might be. When Captain Bo, dream killer extraordinaire, arrived, I took a chance to explore. On the road of discovery, I tripped upon dreamplanes floating dead in a graveyard, scared children attempting to survive their dreams turned nightmare, strange guardians, rogue Dreamlanders, and ships with hearts of silver. I learned more about Dreamland than I ever thought possible. But people are dying. They’re disappearing. Dreamland is twisting, shifting, ripping. I don’t know how best to help, how to save those I’ve met, who have wormed their way into my heart. If only I knew who I was, what I’d been born to do. Then I found out. I know who I am. I wish I didn’t. Dream Killers is geared for fans of Once Upon a Time. The first season (Spring 2014) consists of 3 novellas called episodes. It follows River as he discovers who he is and his role in Dreamland. Dream Killers is to Dreamland Stories what Agents of Shield is to the Marvel movies. Dreamland is an intense, rich, fascinating world with lots going on. If you like fairy tales, are looking for something new, try this one.

My Review:

I fell in love with this series from the very first page.  It is rare to find an author that creates a universe unlike any other.  S. M. Blooding is that author and Dreamland is that universe.  The overwhelming beauty of the landscape, combined with the strange parade of dreams and nightmares that come and go throughout the episodes, makes for a story that is both captivating and disconcerting.

If you love Once Upon a Time and its modern-day take on classic fairytales, you will love this modern take on a world most of us wish we understood better.  If you are a fan of both Star Wars and Harry Potter, you will enjoy all the literary science fiction fantasy and science fiction references sprinkled generously from beginning to end.

In addition, since this world is completely new, reading along with the main character, Riv, and discovering Dreamland as he does, makes for a most interesting and entertaining read.  Will Riv find his purpose?  Will he discover why dreams and dreamers are dying?  Can he save Dreamland before it’s too late?  Or will he become permanently lost in the dreams he is trying to save?

I give Dream Killers, Season 1 five stars!!! A must read!!!  This is an amazing series that you won’t want to miss!!
