Marsee MSH03 review

Since I live a relatively stressful life (I’m an accounting manager, for Pete’s sake!!), I am always on the lookout for ways to get some peace and tranquility.  I used to wear earbuds in bed or at the office, but the earbud jack on my cell phone has died, so I needed to find an alternative.

My Review:

My biggest concern, straight out of the box, was whether or not these headphones would be compatible with my older Android cell phone.  I had to read through the directions twice to figure out how to pair the headphones with my phone (mainly because the English is not very good).  Once I figured it out, though, it was fairly easy.  To turn the headphones on, you press the power button once.  Off is also one press.  To start the pairing mode, press and hold the power button for five seconds until the headphones tell you “ready to pair” (this scared the *** out of me the first time, LOL).  So far I’ve paired the headphones with my cell phone, Art’s cell phone and my laptop with no problems at all.  (Just in case you can’t pair, or you have a device without bluetooth, they also come with a 3.5mm audio cable.

Next I tried out the noise cancelling feature.  You have to switch this feature on if you want to use it.  I looked right at Art and could see him mouthing words.  I thought he was making fun of me, but he was actually speaking and the noise cancelling feature tuned him out.  Just to make sure, I listened to some Youtube videos through the headphones while Art was watching Fox News.  I couldn’t hear a word Bill O’Reilly had to say!!

Rocking the headphones!!

A charge of 2-3 hours lasts a very long time.  I didn’t time the length, but I listened to the headphones for hours one night, then turned them on again the next night, and the night after that and they were still working.

I have enjoyed using the headphones while working on my laptop and when I can’t easily fall asleep at night.  I am also strongly considering taking them to work to drown out the office chatter.

I highly recommend the Marsee MSH03 Active Noise Cancelling Bluetooth Headphones.  They are a great price point at $79.99 and very easy to operate.

I received a complimentary set of headphones for the purpose of review.  All opinions are 100% my own.

Pine Bros Softish Throat Drops Review

pine brothers reviewUlysses S. Grant was President, the population of America hovered at 39 million, and the telephone was still a pipe dream, when in 1870 J. Herman Pine hung out a confectionery shingle on 8th Street above Walnut in Philadelphia and, along with his brother, sold their first batch of what they called ‘Pine Brothers Glycerine Tablets.’ In an attempt to relieve his own sore throat and those of his family members, Mr. Pine, a former German confectionery maker, determined that by combining the soothing natural qualities of glycerin with the healing properties of gum acacia, he could sooth and mitigate the mild discomfort of a sore throat. Add in some natural flavoring and a sweetener and voila, Pine Bros Softish Throat Drops were born. “I have discovered something,” Pine wrote, “which will give quick throat relief to thousands afflicted as I was.” He added,”Perhaps I won’t make much money out of this. But I can make people happy, and that’s more important than money.” Mr. Pine was being unduly modest, as his “discovery” would become one of the most successful, most delicious and most unique throat lozenges in the world. Nor has the recipe changed appreciably since it was first introduced to the public over 140 years ago.

Recently, Pine Brothers was acquired by the creator and former owner of Airborne, Victoria Knight-McDowell, for her new company 3 Sisters Home Products™. Much time and effort has been spent locating the original Pine Brothers recipes, redesigning the packaging, and creating an exciting yet classic new look. The natural product is once again being made in America, and is launching nationally in fall 2011. At which time old Mr. Pine, will succeed once again in “making people happy.” God bless him!

My Review

I have a condition called cough-variant asthma, which is very annoying.  A cough, that in a normal person would sound like they were dying, for me is everyday.  The inhalers and other medications I take to try to keep the cough under control often dry out my throat, which can also cause me to cough.  So it’s a bit of a vicious circle.  I keep a bag of cough drops in my purse and one by my bedside (don’t lecture me) at all times and am always looking for something new and different.

When I received the Pine Bros Softish Throat Drops to try, I immediately loved the configuration of the “puck”, which you can see in the photo above.  It is the perfect size for my purse and would even fit in a medium-size pocket.  It also has a screw-on top so the drops won’t fall out

I wasn’t sure what to make of the drops themselves, at first.  They are definitely “softish”, not as chewy as a gummy bear, but not hard like a cough drop.  Warning: they will stick to your teeth so I don’t recommend chewing on them.  Instead, just let them kind of melt away in your mouth.  Both the cherry flavor and the original were good, but our family found the original, which is honey-flavored, to be the most soothing.  There is no cough suppressant in these, but if your throat is dry or scratchy they will definitely comfort you.  My only complaint is that I wish they had a sugar-free version.

I give Pine Bros Softish Throat Drops four yumms!!!  A useful (and tastefully delicious) product.
