#Underwareness not Self-Consciousness over Bladder Leakage #ad #vn

bladder leakageI am participating in a Vibrant Influencer network campaign for the Depend brand. I am receiving a fee for posting; however, the opinions expressed in this post are my own. I am in no way affiliated with Depend and do not earn a commission or percent of sales.

Did you know that over 51 million American women experience bladder leakage? That’s 1 in 3 American women. And I am one of them.  Is it an embarrassing topic?  It can be.   But should we talk about it?  Definitely.

That’s the concept behind the Underwareness campaign by Depend.  The Depend brand is  entering year two of Underwareness, a social movement and charitable cause to break down the bladder leakage stigma. As part of  Underwareness, the Depend brand is:

  • Encouraging people to show their support for women with bladder leakage. For every photo and video shared using #Underwareness, the Depend brand will donate $1, up to $3 million, through 2016 to fund charities that advance the research and education of bladder leakage.

As I have mentioned in previous posts, I have struggled with bladder leakage for many years, due in part to being on diuretics to control my high blood pressure, and in part because of my cough variant asthma. I wrote the blog 7 Tips for Managing Bladder Control Problems in order to share some of the ideas that have helped me in managing this condition.

But if, like me, you have tried everything but are still having bladder leakage problems, you need more than just well-intentioned advice.

To support the over 51 million women who experience bladder leakage, the Depend brand is introducing Depend Silhouette Active Fit briefs, a new moderate-absorbency brief that features a thin design for complete comfort with the trusted protection of the Depend brand and a lower rise+ for an underwear-like look, fit and feel.

As I mentioned in a previous post, I have tried the Depend Silhouette Active briefs.  I found them very comfortable and convenient, even under snug clothing.

Won’t you join the movement and request a free sample of Depend Silhouette Active Fit briefs at www.depend.com/products/get-samples? Together, we can show that wearing a different kind of underwear is no big deal.

Depend is joining forces with CVS Health to support women with bladder leakage as they navigate their path to better health.

How do you handle bladder leakage?

Bacony Twice Baked Potatoes

bacony twice baked potatoesPotatoes are one of my favorite foods. Baked, mashed, roasted, fried, hashed, in a salad – there are so many ways to enjoy these scrumptious tubers.

One of our family’s favorite potato dishes is Twice Baked Potatoes.  Unfortunately, we don’t get them very often because we rarely have leftover baked potatoes!!

One night last week, I just wasn’t very hungry at dinner, so I put my baked potato in the fridge.  Originally I had thought about scrambling it with some eggs for breakfast, but then I got the idea for Twice Baked Potatoes.  I texted Art and told him my idea.  If he wanted some too, he would have to bake a potato while I was at work.  He agreed, and even suggested the addition of bacon.  I’m glad he did!! It really helped make the meal.

Bacony Twice Baked Potatoes

(serves 4)

2 potatoes, preferably russet

1/4 cup milk

2 Tbsp. butter

dash of salt

dash of pepper

1/2 cup shredded Mexican cheese blend, divided

dash onion powder

2 Tbsp. crumbled bacon (about two pieces)

Bake potatoes as you usually do.  Let cool.

Cut each potato lengthwise in half. Scoop out the inside, leaving a thin shell.

bacony twice baked potatoesMash potatoes in a bowl until no lumps remain. Add butter and beat until smooth, but stiff.  Add milk in small amounts, beating until smooth and fluffy.  Stir in salt, pepper, 3/4 of the cheese, and onion powder.  Fill potato shells with mashed potato mixture.  Place on ungreased cookie sheet.  Top with remaining cheese.

Bake at 400F for about 20 minutes or until hot.
