I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Zarbee’s Naturals. I received a promotional item and a product sample as a thank you for participating.
At a doctor’s visit the other day, we talked about my problems with seasonal congestion. The doctor told me that this congestion is exacerbating my cough, which in turn is constantly irritating my throat, making me cough more. She suggested I use over-the-counter decongestants as needed.
The problem is if I take over-the-counter decongestants as much as I need to, they work less well and can even cause “rebound” congestion. So I have been on the lookout for natural remedies to my seasonal congestion. Here are a few natural solutions I have discovered:
- Nasal Irrigation – whether you use a Neti Pot or other type of sinus rinse, nasal irrigation can go a long way toward keeping your sinuses clear.
- Steam – A nice steaming bowl of hot water and a towel for a tent over my head helps loosen up the mucus and makes it much easier to breathe.
- Keep your head elevated – At night, I sleep on two pillows, or sometimes a wedge. This seems to keep the congestion from pooling in my sinuses and makes it easier to breathe at night.
Recently, I heard about Zarbee’s Naturals’ Seasonal Relief. Zarbee’s Seasonal Relief is a new solution with clinical support for combatting general congestion. It’s made from the extract of Butterbur, a plant used for centuries in Europe, but less so in the U.S.
Butterbur is both humble weed and powerful plant. It is widely available in Europe, where clinical studies have shown it to effectively combat congestion. It’s also safe to use routinely; you won’t develop an intolerance. Best of all, butterbur won’t leave you jittery, groggy, or dry out your mouth.

Zarbee’s Naturals’ Seasonal Relief is available over the counter at CVS and Target and is intended for children 12 years of age and over.
To help those of us who suffer from seasonal congestion, Zarbee’s has created the website www.seasonalrelief.com . You can go there to get your own customized seasonal congestion tips as well as sign up for a product sample.
