I am currently participating in an online Bible Study based on the book “Hidden Joy in a Dark Corner” by Wendy Blight.  The subject this week is abiding and the scripture is from John 15: 7.  “If you abide in Me and My words abide in you, ask whatever you want and it will be done for you.”

In the original writings, abide is the Greek word meinate.  I have to admit that when I first read this – middle-aged, half-blind woman that I am – I misread the Greek as marinate.  But maybe that’s how God wanted me to see it.

Think about it – to marinate means “to steep, immerse in, saturate or imbue.”  Isn’t that what it means when we abide in God?  We are saturated with His Spirit, we are imbued with His Presence, we are immersed in His Word.

So what do you say?  Are you willing to marinate in the Spirit today?
